Long lasting holiday flowers and centerpieces

The most common long lasting fresh flowers are: carnations and daisies of which both come in an amazing variety of colors and give you the best value for your dollar and if arranged with the right combination of filers, greens and texutres, they can look natural and sophistcated.

Common mid price range with big bang for your dollar: asiatic lilies, alstromeria, cremons and spider mums

The more obscure amazing flowers that bring texture, enndurance, and richness to holiday centerpieces: rannunculus, anenome, hypericum berries, trick dianthus and star of bethlehem

And most importantly my favorites for value, longevity, and texture: pinecones, crocosmia pods, poppy pods, lotus pods, victorian birch branches, alder branches, berzillia balls, china berries, rose hips, english varigated boxwood, luecandendron, feathers, cattails and the vast variety of evergreens (don't forget beautiful ribbon).

Fresh centerpieces can be elegant, long lasting, visually interesting, be sure to ask about having some of the above listed flowers and textures added to  your holiday centerpieces. Take the time to educate yourself as a consumer about the flower choices that are available. Holiday centerpieces can be beautiful, long lasting, elegant and easy. Every home should have a lovely holiday centerpiece to decorate your table. 

Simple Holiday Centerpieces

'Tis the season to start decorating your home for the holidays. One of the easiest and most visible places to add holiday cheer to your home is your dining room table.

 A centerpiece can be as simple as a bowl of oranges in a vintage white bowl.

 or a woodenbowl with pinecones.

These two looks are extremely easy and inexpensive and very long lasting (until you eat the oranges :)

But don't shy away from fresh flowers centerpieces for the holidays because you think they don't last or are too expensive.

Here are a couple of examples of long lasting fresh flower centerpices

 This is a long lasting arrangment with pincushion protea, fall leaves, fresh pine, wheat, fall daisies and pincones.

This centerpiece is more traditional with a candle, long lasting greens, daisies and berries.  Kept watered, this arrangement will last over 2 1/2 weeks and is very easy and inexpensive to refresh.
